Our client is a well-established national leader in vehicle logistics and supply chain operations, delivering large-scale yard management and transport solutions to some of Australia’s most recognised automotive brands. Operating from a secure wharf facility in Port Melbourne, they specialise in the coordination, storage, inspection, and movement of new and prestige vehicles across their compounds.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Yard Hands / Car Movers to join their wharf operations team.
The role is based at the wharf site in Port Melbourne, operating primarily on a 6:00am – 2:00pm shift. This is a Monday to Friday position with occasional weekend work as required. During quieter wharf periods, you may also be required to work at the client’s additional compound located in Truganina.
It’s an ideal role for someone who has a genuine interest in cars, enjoys being behind the wheel, and is confident driving a range of vehicles. The ability to drive a manual gearbox is essential, as you’ll be handling various makes and models — including new vehicles and high-end brands.
About your new role:
- Survey vehicles upon arrival with high attention to detail, checking and accurately recording any damages
- Safely drive and manoeuvre a variety of vehicles (including new dealer vehicles and customer-owned prestige vehicles such as Porsche, Mercedes, 4x4s, etc.)
- Relocate vehicles within tight areas — strong spatial awareness is essential
- Organise vehicles into designated work orders ready for collection from the wharf
- Park vehicles in assigned bays and relocate them across the compound
- Dispatch vehicles as required
- Refuel vehicles and perform basic tasks such as jump-starting if required
- Complete required paperwork and use scanners/computer systems
- Walk extensively throughout the compound (approximately 12,000–20,000+ steps per day)
- Work collaboratively as part of a team completing the same operational tasks
About you:
- Must be able to drive a manual gearbox
- Must complete a Police Check
- Must provide a Driving History Record
- Confident and experienced driver
- Confident in using scanners and computers
